Blackcap Handicap Summer 2023
(June 29, 2023)This annual event was unusual for 2 reasons - the large number of finishers (42) and the fact that we has some sunshine!!!
Jac Barnes was a worthy winner, if only for her ability to con the handicapper with a long tale of injury woe and lack of training. Ben Gibson stormed across the ground to nearly make it and finished second but fastest on the day. Shiv Amer ran hard to be fastest competitive lady - Rachael Overton had someone to carry her number :-).
The Handicapping Accuracy award (which runners have no knowledge of) was shared between Greg Hilton and club Co-Chair Andy Hind.
Marion, Kath acted as Turn and Gate Marshalls, while Sam, Lins and visitor Katie Morgan shared finish line duties with me.
We adjourned to The Bull and a good time was had by all (well except for those who were "done" by the handicapper)
